Asheville Day 3 – Apple Orchard

We decided to go apple picking before the drive back home. As soon as we got to the apple orchard, the employee said we were a day late for the U-pick season…what a disappointment!! But we made the best of it and were still able to pick apples from the bins. We also bought some apple cider donuts and hot apple cider to warm us up on that cold cold morning! I wish I had asked for the donut recipe because they were amazing!!

Asheville Day 2 – The Biltmore

The Biltmore in Asheville is a definite MUST visit! I’ve been a handful of times, but this time we decided to take the Architects tour. It was well worth the money just for the views from the roof alone!

There were so many little details that we never noticed until our guide pointed them out!

After the tour and of course some shopping and wine tasting, we ate at Cedric’s Tavern at The Biltmore Village where we had the best grilled cheese of my life!!!

And of course we had to walk through the garden to see all the pretty flowers!!

Asheville Vacation Recap

So my fiance and I decided to do a quick fall trip to Asheville, NC last weekend and it was amazing! We left early Saturday morning, after we dropped off Hercules at the kennel. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a hotel that would allow pets when I booked the trip at the last minute. He clearly wanted to come along too…

Our plan was to do a brewery tour when we got to Asheville, since there are about 16 craft breweries there. So, we signed up for Brew-ed Brewery & History Walking Tour, which I highly recommend. Our tour guide Cliff is a certified Ciserone, so it was very educational on top of the delicious libations we got to try!

First stop was Hi-Wire Brewing. This is one of the newer breweries in Asheville. We tried the bed of nails,  IPA, and their seasonal Ringmaster Red Rye. Although, my favorite was the Lager. It was a great first stop!

We walked over to Green Man Brewery next. This was Cory’s favorite brewery stop. We tried the IPA, ESB and Porter if I’m not mistaken. But his recommendation is the ale.

Our last stop, and my favorite of the three was Wicked Weed Brewing. I was blown away by the atmosphere and the beer itself. My absolute favorite was the Bedeviled. I honestly don’t remember what else we tried because the Bedeviled was so good!! They had a pretzel dispenser in the tasting room, which was awesome, especially after having several beers already.

Of course, we bought pint glasses at each stop and I wish we had bought some growlers at the time also!

We ended our night eating Pizza with some great people we met on the tour! It was a much needed and great first day of our vacation!!
Up next, Day 2 at The Biltmore…
